Arcane Wonders Is Bringing the ‘90s Nostalgia (And More) to Gen Con!

Arcane Wonders (booth 629) will have not one, not two, but FIVE new releases at Gen Con!

Embrace your inner ’90s kid in Video Game Champion, make beautiful art in Mezen, invest in the vegetable stock market in Vegetable Stock, and plan and build your own city in Foundations of Metropolis

Video Game Champion is all about that ‘90s video game nostalgia! Collect controller buttons to form patterns, and use them to play and beat games – but don’t forget to do your homework! You’ll have to balance spending all your time and money on games with chores, homework, and visiting Grandma. You can also buy magazines to get cheat codes, beg your parents to buy you games, and head to the rental store for a quick fix. This is a Dice Tower Essentials title, meaning Tom Vasel specifically selected it as a game he feels belongs in every gamer’s collection.

Mezen brings stunning northern artwork to life in this game of grid-based pattern building. Combine symbols and flip tiles to accomplish goals and earn points. You will shape your painting by removing a group of tiles each turn, flipping them over, sliding down any tiles that were above them, and then slotting the flipped tiles back in from the top. Will you match the current round’s pattern for points now, or plan for the next round for an even bigger score? The choice is yours!

In Vegetable Stock, another Dice Tower Essentials title, you are harvesting vegetables and manipulating the vegetable stock market (see what we did there?) to make as much money as possible! You will draft vegetable cards from a shared market, and then the price of the vegetables on the last card remaining will go up — but if the price goes too high, the market will crash! Can you invest in the right veggies to come out on top?

Frozen Frontier is a highly strategic space-based euro game about the cosmic future of humanity. It has been called Brass: Birmingham in space, so if that’s your jam then make sure to come check it out! This game will only be available from Arcane Wonders at conventions and on our website. There’s a chance we won’t get it in time for the show, but we probably won’t know until we get there – so come by and ask!

Finally, we have Foundations of Metropolis! This highly anticipated title brings the behemoth Foundations of Rome to a smaller box with a new modern theme and cardboard polyominos instead of plastic minis. We know the giant box isn’t for everyone, and we heard you loud and clear when you told us you wanted this! Foundations of Metropolis is a polyomino city-building game. Plan carefully, buy the deeds you need, and build the city of your dreams in this Dice Tower Essentials game.

Of course, we will have our best-known games at the booth as well—Onitama, Furnace, Air Land & Sea, and World Wonders. And who knows? We might do something crazy, like show off an early copy of Freedom Five

Stop by booth 629 in the Gen Con Exhibit Hall to see all this and more!
