We are super excited to unveil this year’s Gen Con Indy program book cover art by Alex Dos Diaz!

Alex Dos Diaz is an artist based out of North Wales, PA, currently focused on studying and creating visual elements based on psychological themes and old Alchemical symbolism. His clients have included Wizards of the Coast, Penguin Random House, Arcane Wonders, and DC Comics.

What inspired your work on this year’s Gen Con program book cover art?

Last year was my first time at Gen Con, and I have to admit I was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer size of the event. Every day I saw something new and exciting, and it felt like I could get lost in there. Without realizing it, I was embarking on an epic-sized journey — at least for the introvert in me — and I honestly loved it.

That experience gave me the idea for the program book cover art. I wanted to create the embodiment of what it felt like to be part of that fantastical journey. That feeling personified itself into a knight, ready to take on their yearly journey to Gen Con.

What’s it like to be an exhibiting artist at Gen Con?

Chaotic, exciting, and a lot of fun all at once! I felt at home with everyone there — the energy and atmosphere were infectious and it was wonderful to meet old and new fans alike. It was honestly one of my favorite experiences of 2021.

What are you most looking forward to at Gen Con this year?

Reconnecting with friends and fans from all over, as well as seeing all of the new art in the art show.

What has been the biggest influence on your style/aesthetic or creative process?

I think my style/aesthetic today is a quirky combination of video game art, anime, graphic design, and baroque sculpture? I know, like I said… quirky!

Are there any special upcoming appearances, releases, or prints you’re excited about?

I am working on a very special set of 5-6 prints for my series “Singularities,” and I am having a blast designing all of the details for this project. I can’t wait to show everyone.

What can attendees look forward to seeing at your booth this year?

I am excited to bring more traditional art to the show this year, new pins, and possibly the addition of limited edition metal prints as well.
