No XP Required: Sewing for Gamers, Cosplayers, & Curious Creators

From dice bags to damaged costumes, Pintuck & Purl is here to show that sewing deserves a place in every gamer’s toolkit—and it’s a lot easier (and more fun) than you think.

We’re thrilled to return to Gen Con 2025 for the second year. We’re bringing sewing machines, creative energy, and a mission to make sewing more accessible, practical, and fun for gamers of all kinds. Whether you’re a cosplayer, a tabletop fan, or a beginner curious about a new hobby, you’ll find something to love in sewing.

Game Night Just Got an Upgrade

Sewing belongs to your generation, too, and it can be a game-changer (literally) for tabletop fans. We’ll be showcasing quick, practical sewing tips that can add flair and function to your campaigns. These simple skills can be used for accessories like:

  • 🎲 Custom dice bags
  • 📜 Fabric scroll cases for RPG handouts/maps
  • 🎭 Reversible dice trays that roll beautifully and pack flat
  • 🃏 Deck storage pouches to protect your favorite card builds

Whether you’re a DM, a casual gamer, or the friend who always brings the best snacks, these projects can make your game night more personal and fun.

Never Touched a Sewing Machine? Start Here.

We get it. Sewing can seem intimidating—like something you have to learn from your grandma or a 100-hour YouTube rabbit hole. The truth? It’s really not that complicated, especially when you start with the right machine (and the right instructors).

That’s why we’re offering introductory sewing classes on-site at Gen Con using Bernette machines that are approachable, beginner-friendly, and surprisingly affordable. You’ll leave with a finished project, new skills, and an “I made this!” feeling that’s honestly a bit addictive.

No experience? No problem. Our classes are designed for beginners who’ve never threaded a needle—and they’re a great way to dip your toe into another creative facet of the gaming world.

Sewing can be compared to painting miniatures or building terrain: It’s tactile, immersive, and gives you something cool to show off.
